Job Announcement

Title:  Production Manager
Location:  Spokane, Washington
Dept.:  Operations
Reports to:  General Manager of Operations
Hours: Full-time-Day Shift

Summary:

Responsible for all facets of production at the Inland Northwest Lighthouse (INL). These facets include: meeting production schedules and goals, employee relations, building security, problem solving and decision-making.    Supervises, develops trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned INL staff.  Provide input to other management team members who supervise INL staff.  Coordinates with organizational functions that support INL production.  Accomplishes INL production goals within overall organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises personnel in a production environment.  Accountable for being part of a hiring team, training, work assignment, performance feedback and evaluation, disciplinary action, and upward mobility.
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment.
  • Ensure products are manufactured according to the Business Management System.
  • Plan and organize production processes to ensure that production schedules are met; this includes coordinating activities with the production support departments.  Responsible for managing efficient and quality production processes including coordination of employee work hours, materials, tools and equipment to customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the implementation of departmental/organizational policies and procedures, this includes preparing any necessary paperwork. 
  • Maintain a high level of morale by setting the required standard and consistently rewarding for teamwork, attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provides technical knowledge and assistance based on product, material and machinery knowledge.  Assist in the coordination of production with other support departments.
  • Ensure proper organization of production equipment and tools thereby ensuring safe and efficient operations.   
  • Responsible for requisitioning shop supplies (limited purchase authority).
  • Maintains hands-on awareness of manufacturing processes, capabilities and constraints. Provide ideas and suggestions that make the INL more competitive and efficient.
  • Provides direction and decision making for a wide variety of unplanned issues that may require immediate attention.
  • Maintains an overall vision that supports the organization’s mission. This includes communicating with employees on a regular basis, (i.e. shop meetings, small group activities and individually).
  • Ability to solve problems and find solutions to various technical, managerial and employee situations.
  • Reads and understands blue prints.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: (equivalent education/and or experience may substitute)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred related field or equivalent knowledge and experience is required.
  • Must possess at least five years of related work history and requires supervision and strong leadership skills and employee relations experience.
  • Demonstrate an expertise within a variety of management and manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build teamwork, influence, persuade and resolve conflicts.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Understanding of documented quality management systems
  • Ability to be  flexible in decision making
  • Responsible for the coordination and documentation of training
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
