Job Announcement

Title: Job Coach (for Individuals with DD who are blind or deaf/blind)
Reports To: Supported Employment Coordinator/Supervisor
Department: Employee & Community Services
Hours: Full-time, M-F

Summary:

This position provides vocational training and supervision to employees with developmental disabilities who are also blind or Deaf-Blind in various production departments to enhance employability and employee development, and to facilitate employee integration within their production department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach job skills to supported employees
  • Maintain files, provide documentation, data collection, reports, and summaries as needed; begin learning payroll process
  • Support independence with personal hygiene and Independent Living skills as necessary for job success; including toileting skills
  • Perform set-up duties including:
    • quality check
    • read work orders
    • set-up and clean up of machines and work stations
    • material handling
    • ensure smooth work flow
  • Generate ideas for jigs and necessary adaptations to job
  • Support, implement, and follow up on behavior intervention and programming
  • Support job creation in all production areas
  • Actively participate in staff trainings and meetings
  • Act as Advocate for assigned employees
  • Ensure safe working environment 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute)

  • BA in Special Education, Rehabilitation or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of ASL preferred (Level 6 or greater)
  • One or more years experience working with adults who have a developmental disability in a vocational setting
  • Demonstrated skills, flexibility and sensitivity in training developmentally disabled, blind or Deaf-Blind adults
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a Team member
