Job Announcement

Title:  Application Programmer Analyst-Network Operations Technician II
Location: Seattle, Washington
Dept.:  Information Technology
Reports to:  Information Technology Manager
Hours:  Full Time M/F

Summary:

This position performs a variety of tasks for all systems including JDE, AS400, EDI, ACOM, and also network administration. Works closely with the IT Manager in all systems related changes/upgrades to ensure proper functions of all computer systems throughout The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. (LFB). This position requires experience as an Application Programmer Analyst and as a Network Operations Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Application Programmer Analyst (70% of job responsibilities)
    • Programs and analyzes moderately complex projects.
    • Assists Senior Analysts on large scale or complex projects.
    • Provides input and makes suggestions for computer systems related integration(s) and changes.
    • Works closely with all personnel to assist and develop programs to ensure accurate database functions throughout all phases of manufacturing. 
    • Updates and provides accurate documentation related to computer system integration and changes.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by IT Manager.
  • Network Operations Technician. (30% of job responsibilities)
    • Assists in design and implementation of network upgrades, expansions, data backup, disaster recovery and security schemes. 
    • Manages and troubleshoots Windows NT network including TCP/IP, file and print services, exchange E-mail, Internet connectivity and remote access.
    • Configures and maintains all network hardware and software including; router, hubs, switches, Ethernet cards and patch panels cables (10 base T & 100 base T).  Coordinates and schedules all network cabling, purchasing of PC’s and related peripherals.  Provides network support, password maintenance, sets up of PC’s to run off NT server, troubleshoots network issues and makes CAT-5 cables and hooks PCs to network nodes.

Requirements:

  • Application Programmer Analyst  Requirements
    • 5+ years experience in analysis and design and programming of full life cycle application development.  Must have experience in the following:
    • JDE OneWorld preferred (if not World is fine) Financials, Distribution, Manufacturing & Technical (ERP, MRP)—EDI, ICC.net, Inventory, Order Entry/Distribution & Warehouse, A/R, A/P, G/L, (5+yrs), ACOM (or EZPRINT).
    • Some experience in Enterprise One is preferred.                   
    • Experience in Convsion::AS400 to JDE OneWorld (ERP, MRP)—Gap analysis
    • Applications:  JDE: Financials, Distribution, Manufacturing, Technical Foundation.
    • Hardware/Software:  IBM AS/400, OS/400, RPG-III, RPG-IV, ILE/RPG, IBM CL, J.D. Edwards, MS-Office, FTP, TCP, SQL.
    • Languages: One World Tools (their proprietary language), Visual Basic, C programming Language, SQL, RPG III, RPG/ILE, Stored Procedures, FTP, TCP/IP;
  • B.S. in Computer Science.
    • Network Operations Technician. Requirements
    • Network environments.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Highly organized with accuracy and attention to detail required.
    • Strong troubleshooting ability with knowledge of MS Windows 2003 servers, cabling, hubs, routers,
    • switches, patch panels, and Ethernet connectivity required.
    • Proven ability to work in a diverse environment and function effectively, working both independently and as a strong team member required.
    • Working knowledge of Windows XP and MS Office 2003 Professional  required.
    • Familiarity with access technology for blind and low-vision users preferred.
    • AS/400 Network integration experience preferred.
    • MCSE preferred.
