Job Announcement

Title: CNC Machinist
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Hours: Full-time day-shift, M-F

Summary:

Sets up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) mills to fabricate complex metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, programs, work orders and/or templates to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, and set up requirements.
  • Assigns operators to specific jobs, providing assistance and monitoring for quality and efficiency.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes and specialized cutting machines.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or part program.
  • Confers with supervisors/leads, engineers, inspectors, programmers or others to resolve machining or production problems.

Requirements:

  • Two years of CNC machinist experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand complex instructions, procedures and policies and give clear technical assistance and feedback to co-workers.
  • Knowledge of machine shop geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools.
  • Independent understanding of work-orders, blueprints and drawings.
