Title:  Controller

Location: Seattle, Washington

Dept.:  Finance

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Hours:  Full Time M/F

 

Summary:

Manage day-to-day accounting and financial reporting, as well as related systems and functions, for manufacturing plants and retail operations.  This position will ensure the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of financial data.

 

Responsibilities:

á      Supervise staff and direct day-to-day operations for all standard accounting functions: GL, AR, AP, cash, payroll, fixed assets, cost & financial systems.

á      Direct accounting for pension, insurance, government reporting & tax reporting.

á      Oversee chart of accounts, reconciliations, coding & classification.

á      Coordinate / support detailed budget and forecasts.

á      Oversee part costing, inventory costing, physical inventories, labor & overhead preparation.

á      Troubleshoot / liaison with departments, external audits and government agencies.

á      Develop, implement and maintain effective procedures and internal controls ensuring compliance to accounting, regulatory and SOX requirements.

á      Research, document and apply appropriate accounting and compliance to GAAP.

á      Manage or support investment accounting, freight analyses and allocations.

á      Prepare / support Board presentations, fill in for CFO when necessary.

á      Complete other projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

á      Four (4) year degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.

á      CPA required (inactive must have demonstrated knowledge / ability to apply current GAAP).

á      Previous Controller and 10+ years of financial / management supervisory experience in organization with at least $20m budget.  

á      Strong tax skills and experience in manufacturing accounting preferred.

á      Able to evaluate GAAP and internal controls including identifying and resolving internal control weaknesses.  Able to apply GAAP accounting standards and requirements to processes and procedures.

á      Detail-oriented, strong analytical approach to problem solving and a proactive, positive attitude.

á      Demonstrated leadership - strong people skills, able to bring people together, meet deadlines and work successfully in a collaborative team.

á      Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain financials in clear / concise manner.  Previous experience in presentations to management desired.

á      Strong Excel, Microsoft Office and financial systems skills.  Experience with JD Edwards, report-writer or query software preferred.
