Job Announcement
Title: Computer Training Program Lead Instructor
Department: ECS
Reports To: Training & Employee Support Director
Hours: Full-time, day-shift, M-F
Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to successfully develop and implement an introductory computer skills training program for adult learners with a wide variety of visual conditions and computer experience. Curriculum development is required.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, plan and deliver all aspects of the introductory skills curriculum for the Computer Training Program
- Formulate curriculum and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings and workshops
- Ensure basic skills development
- Provide status reports regarding the progress of each student
- Conduct assessments to identify individual and organizational training needs.
- Coordinate with Employee and Community Services staff and Human Resources staff to conduct effective outreach to Lighthouse employees and others as appropriate
- Maintain files, provide documentation, data collection, reports and summaries as needed
- Participate in the development of annual budget and work plans
- Work with PRRD to ensure funding and marketing of program
- Serve as a liaison with DSB, other agencies and the community to ensure long-term sustainability and success of the Computer Training Program
- Act as Lead by providing day to day support of Computer Training Program staff and volunteers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education or related field required
- Strong technical skills and extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching/training experience
- Mature judgment and sensitivity in interpersonal relations and among diverse groups
- Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Internet Explorer.
- Comprehensive knowledge of adaptive software for blind and low vision users, such as Zoomtext, Magic and Jaws.
- Demonstrated ability to research curriculum and develop additional materials as needed
- Ability to problem solve effectively
- Creativity & flexibility; ability to change approach as needed
- Ability to take initiative, function autonomously, and be dependable.

- Ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically about the programs and services we offer
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to work as a team member
