Fall 2007
Thank You Lighthouse Donors!
Generous community donors are vital to providing training and opportunities at The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. Here are just a few of the ways donors have helped to expand services and employment at the Lighthouse:
Community support helped to provide the tools and support to offer more Lighthouse employment opportunities than ever. Community donations helped enable us to hire 20 additional blind and Deaf-Blind individuals this year for a total of 185 blind and Deaf-Blind adults employed at the Lighthouse today.
Philanthropic contributions continued to help the Deaf-Blind community to thrive, enabling 41 Deaf-Blind adults to gain computer skills to achieve greater autonomy in their daily lives.
Donations also helped 140 blind and Deaf-Blind individuals to receive orientation and mobility (O & M) training this year. Charitable contributions helped to expand our O & M program and hire a third mobility instructor.
Thank you to the following generous individuals and organizations for giving a total of $234,150 between June 2nd, 2007 and September 30th, 2007 in support of Lighthouse services:

Charter Lighthouse Legacy Society Members
The Lighthouse Legacy Society was created to honor the outstanding dedication of people who have arranged to make a gift in support of Lighthouse programs through their will or estate plan. The only requirement for charter membership in the Lighthouse Legacy Society is that you notify Lighthouse staff in writing of your planned gift by April 8, 2008.
Lighthouse Legacy members will be honored this year at our third annual Lighthouse Legacy Society Holiday Breakfast on Thursday, December 6th, 2007 at the top of the Washington Athletic Club. The keynote speaker will be Mr. Bob Watt, Vice President, Government & Community Relations, The Boeing Company.
We are grateful for the generosity of our Lighthouse Legacy Society Charter members for their exceptional commitment to creating opportunities for people who are blind, Deaf-Blind, and blind with other disabilities.
