Winter 2008
Volunteer at our Redefining Vision Auction and Dinner
Do you want to get involved with Seattle Lighthouse but don’t have time for a long-term commitment? Then volunteering at our auction would be the perfect opportunity for you! We are looking for volunteers to help out with our Redefining Vision auction and dinner the evening of March 28, 2008. We have all types of auction volunteer jobs available: from greeting guests to displaying live auction items on-stage.
Our Redefining Vision Dinner and Auction will include both a silent auction preceding the dinner and a live auction during the seated dinner. Auction items will include tactile sculpture, tactile wall hangings, braille jewelry, vacation packages, surprise items and many other tactile and experiential items.
Dinner will be catered by Tom Douglas Catering and Events. Recipient of the James Beard Foundation "Best Northwest Chef" Award Tom Douglas is among Seattle's preeminent chefs and restaurateurs. His restaurants include the Dahlia Lounge, Etta's Seafood, Lola's, Serious Pie, and the Palace Kitchen (the sister kitchen to the Palace Ballroom event space.) He is the author of three cookbooks: Tom Douglas' Seattle Kitchen (winner of the 1996 James Beard Foundation Best American Cookbook Award), Tom Douglas' Big Dinners, and I Love Crab Cakes!
All proceeds from the auction will go directly to benefit the Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind Foundation and will create employment and training opportunities for people who are blind, Deaf-Blind, and blind with other disabilities.
If you are interested in volunteering at our auction, please contact Development Manager Melanie Wimmenauer at (206) 436-2223 or email mwimmenauer@seattlelh.org.
