Seattle Lighthouse boasts a unique treasure for Deaf-Blind adults – our Technology Training Center (TTC). The center provides one-on-one training in the latest adaptive and assistive technologies, such as refreshable braille displays and screen magnification, free of charge for Deaf-Blind adults in the community. We rely completely on the support of generous donors in our community to fund and sustain this valuable program. Just ask Seattle Lighthouse employee Jorge how training at the TTC has opened up doors for him:
Before I started my basic keyboarding class, I didn’t know how to type properly. I was typing each letter with my index finger and it took me forever to type out a single sentence. I’ve improved so much in just three weeks. I can’t wait to take more classes. In the future, I will be able to take online classes with Tooling University, and eventually be able to operate the CNC machines down in the Boeing machine shop. I feel like the opportunities are endless now!
Deaf-Blind adults like Jorge are thriving thanks to the one-on-one teaching and training the TTC provides. To support the TTC, just donate online by clicking here.
