The Patented Anglematic® Mop
In 1983, engineers at the Seattle Lighthouse decided to design a better mop. A year later, the Lighthouse patented the Anglematicâ mop. "There are actually two patents," says Paul Fletcher, Quality Team Leader. "To put it simply, because of the patented components, the head of our mop is always at the right angle for the most effective cleaning." Lighthouse mops are sold directly to the General Services Administration and are also available at commissaries and PX's on military bases.
"Currently we are producing about 6,500 mops each month," says Jerry Kopp, Production Supervisor. This means employment for ten blind, Deaf-Blind and multi-disabled blind people.
"We are always making improvements to the Anglematicâ mop," continues Paul. "In fact, we're in the process of adding a scrubber to the design and coming out with a new deluxe model."
