Seattle Lighthouse Receives Boeing Company's Coveted Q100 Award

For the second year in a row, the Lighthouse Boeing Department earned recognition for the delivery of quality parts.

The certificate of achievement, presented by Boeing Company officials to Lighthouse staff, reads in part:

This Certificate of Achievement is being presented to you in recognition of your exemplary performance, your pride in workmanship, and your constant effort to improve the quality of the products provided to us by your organization…Your efforts are worthy of our highest praise and are indicative of those required to remain competitive and meet today's business challenges…We congratulate you on your outstanding performance.

"This award is a very tangible result of a lot of hard work by the Boeing Department to improve quality," says Lighthouse Director of Manufacturing, Don Helsel. "Three or four years ago our quality wasn't where we wanted it to be," he continues. "We knew we had to improve our quality to serve our customer. We attacked this issue at many different levels with many different strategies. As I told everyone in our shop meetings, we want a reputation throughout The Boeing Company of delivering the absolute highest quality parts. Winning the Q100 award is a nice acknowledgement that our efforts are producing results."
