Deaf-Blind people from throughout North America journey to Seabeck, Washington to take part in our annual Deaf-Blind retreat.
Help Make Our Twenty-Sixth Deaf-Blind Retreat a Success with Your Matched Support!

This summer, you can help make a truly exceptional experience happen - and any support you give will help out twice as much!

Through our annual Deaf-Blind retreat, people who are Deaf-Blind from across North America have the opportunity to come together in an environment where information, communication, and support are completely accessible and available. Here, in the beautiful natural environment of Seabeck, Washington, Deaf-Blind people can build community, friendship, and leadership skills.

You have already heard from Jeremy, Willy, and Jenné about how the retreat has touched their lives. Now we’d like to share a few more words from people who have participated in past retreats:

“Beautiful people with lots of patience! Already made best friends! Finally met a relative I had not seen for years!”

“The development of decision-making skills is very much emphasized at the retreat. I am seeing an increasing number of Deaf-Blind people who are determined to create better lives for themselves.”

“You come to the retreat and you realize, “Oh, there are other people in my shoes, they understand some of the barriers and maybe they have overcome some of the barriers.” It’s a great place to get a foothold on making progress in your life and feel like there’s hope.”

“Those involved in organizing the retreat definitely know how to teach us skills that we can use to overcome barriers we encounter in our lives. It is a great feeling to open more doors as we get older.”

You will help provide the accessibility, information, and support that make this retreat so special.

And this year, you can provide twice as much help!

A committed individual in the community has generously offered to match every gift made in response to this newsletter dollar-for-dollar!

That means that your contribution to the retreat will be doubled, allowing even more Deaf-Blind people to take part in this remarkable event.

To ensure complete accessibility and support during the week, we need to raise $1,013 per person attending. Your generous matched gift, at whatever level is comfortable for you, will help meet this need and provide an outstanding experience for all the Deaf-Blind people coming to the retreat.

Your contribution means that Deaf-Blind people will get a chance to learn new skills for overcoming barriers, challenge themselves in activities and workshops, and share friendship and community with one another.

Thanks to your generosity, we will create opportunities for discovery, possibility, and empowerment within the Deaf-Blind community.
